Samsung Galaxy Beam Projector Smartphone Helped Chiliean Miners

Samsung Galaxy Beam projector smartphone helped to light up the lives of the Chilean miners

You heard the one about the stranded Chilean miners? Turns out they were a bit under the weather. But seriously folks, living in a cave for a few months is not fun, and fortunately those guys had a crew of support people send down all kinds of toys. One of those toys, we now learn, was a Samsung Galaxy Beam Android projector phone, loaded with a "message of encouragement" from Chile's mining minister along with a recording of an exhibition soccer game between Chile and the Ukraine (previously we were told it was beamed down via fibre optics). We have to admit feeling the smallest pang of envy, because down there is one of the few places where a six lumen pico projector phone is more than bright enough.

Reckless Racing Review (iPhone)

Developed by Swedish company Pixelbite and only a few days ago was released by EA and Polarbit, reckless Racing is a game that we've been following since it was known as "Deliverace" at the beginning of this year--and frankly, there was a spell where we had gone so long without heard anything about that we had kind of assumed that the great-looking project was cancelled. Fortunately, that wasn't the case-it is now available on the iPhone, iPad and Android--, so we decided to take it for a quick spin. After all, not top-down racers really much noise since the heady days of R.C. pro-am and lasting arcade favorite Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off Road ... and after playing recklessly Racing for just a few minutes, we're not sure why that is.

Simply put, these guys put together a stellar game that immediately put a smile on your face from the moment you fire. The ironic Hillbilly theme (complete with bluegrass background music) is a good start, but more importantly, the control and gameplay are simple and immediately engaging with very little processing time. Individual tastes, reckless Racing you can choose between some five different styles: standard (rotate buttons on the left, in front of the accelerator and brake on the right), tank (gas is automatically applied, rotate buttons in both corners), Tilt, and both half and full wheel (drag the wheel to switch). We found we were quickest and most agile in the tank mode, but your mileage may vary. You'll probably spend most of your time playing a single-player mode Dirt Rally where you compete against five CPU-controlled cars in three levels of difficulty (along with two levels of difficulty steering wheel), but you also have Hot Lap-and delivery methods.Hot Lap is a simple solo mode where you're just trying to get the best time, but delivery is quite interesting: the idea is to pick up packages around the course and deliver them as soon as possible to various destinations. it is pretty funny, and the special delivery course is complicated enough to keep you on your toes.

The graphics are pristine-she looks seriously amazing on the display of the iPhone--and it runs smooth as silk without a hiccup to find, but we have a few complaints. Firstly, there is no Game Center support; that is probably partly due to the fact that it is a cross-platform game and development started before Centre of the game was even announced, but reckless Racing format really lends itself to the Centre of the game multiplayer matchmaking capacities and performance tracking (such as it is now, the game has no performance of any kind). In the second, there is no vehicle damage; If you're in a wreck or you get stuck, you just respawn at the course (and there is a special button in the upper-right corner to respawn manually if you want to). given the on-course barriers and the ever-present danger comes into contact with the competing cars, the damage would be a nice complication. Also, there are not a power-ups or upgrades--we kept looking for Super Off Road-style nitro bottles, but no dice.

All that said, reckless has proven that the top-down size is brilliant on the phone of a touchscreen display. we would like to see more than five rally courses (ten, if you reverse the unlockable courses count)--but we would recommend that is a good problem to have, because it just drives home the point that there is already a gas to play and $2.99, it's a steal.

EVO 4G grabs stylish Powermat induction charging

This is not your father Powermat. The company which whose name is synonymous with induction charging has undergone a makeover of sorts, reducing the bulk of its egregious logo in addition to the custom battery covers it makes for select devices. The $59.99 mat and receiver (or $39.99 for the receiver only) for the notoriously power hungy EVO 4G is a good example of where the Powermat induction charging tech can melt away in the overall aesthetic design. In fact, if it wasn't for that logo and charging connector on the case to the right, we would swear that it was a stock EVO 4G handset. See it unboxed and put to task in the video after the break.

Google and Samsung sued about Android

Google, Samsung, Motorola and HTC have all been prosecuted by a digital security firm on their implementation of Android.

Gemalto, an international company specializing in smart cards, terminals and software, has claimed that its Java card technology is used without permission.

It is suing the companies based on the implementation of this technology in their smartphones, which allows more efficiency in running the devices.

There is no word about the demands placed on Google et al. by Gemalto, but its clear it wants compensation by going after the handset manufacturers instead of the developers of the operating system, believing them to have used a patent without license.

It also claims that the tech was developed back in the 1990s, when the company was just Axalto.
This is the latest in a long line of lawsuits aimed at Google on Android after Oracle did about the use of Java in the OS calls.

Notion Adam tablet ink founder claims will go 15 + hours on a charge

Pixel Qi and Tegra 2-packing Notion Ink Adam has long been one of our favorite pieces of perfectly plausible vaporware, but founder Rohan Shravans has just made a pretty fantastic claim - he says he is getting a minimum of 15 hours of battery life from his personal tablet and calculates you get up to 20 with the 24Wh, potentially user-replaceable battery nestled in the frame. While the figures for the $498 transflective version of the Tablet PC and not the $399 juice-gulping LCD, they are still so stellar that they can easily create Adam's sales depending on their accuracy. Oh Rohan, please do not let us down!

by F-App Although there are lots of new features, it still feels a bit like I'm just replaying The Sims or The Sims: World Adventures. It's still great though. The gameplay is great. Controls are awesome. A bit laggy though, but maybe it's just me. No crashes, no problems whatsoever. It's definitely worth it!

I hope they add the feature wherein you can name your BABY!! That would be super awesome. Also they should not just let us experience baby to toddler life only. Maybe make it until teenager!
I hope they make Sims 3 with pets next!! :D

by lovelymelodie okay, im loving the baby addition and the fact that we get paid more for our jobs, however, i want my baby to be more than just a toddler. i want her to slowly grow into an adult and move out. i wanna be able to have more than just one kid too. and they should be able to go to school like on the computer. and it should be more similar to life. allow the parents to take baths together and be more intimate. let them be able to go grocery shopping and such! lol, maybe im asking for too much. i juss love the game! by THIZZ OR DIE!!!!! Cmon. It's the sims! We want the best!

New Cell Phone Technology: 10 best free Windows phone 7 apps

Even this early on, Windows Phone 7, the new cell phone technolgy from the world's favorite Operating System (I have Microsoft shares!!) has a strong list of apps that you expect to see on any platform; Twitter, Seesmic, Flixster, OpenTable, yelp, IMDB, LastFM, iHeartRadio, Slacker, Netflix ...
These are not only basic, ' booth Windows Phone ' apps; you can use Netflix to get streaming titles on your phone, not just pick that DVD.

There's even a Facebook client, although there is so much Facebook integration in Windows phone you only really need to see events.

There are vintage apps from other platforms such as the iSilo and Freda ebook readers, plenty of handy little apps that do a useful (such as the PicFx instrument for tilt-shifting photos or images Downloader you can grab the latest Bing backgrounds) and we expect much more.
Here are our current top 10 free Windows phone 7 apps.

1. Shazam
This is one of the most beautiful Shazam clients that we have seen for each phone; the panoramic interface works well and (at least for now), you can set up an unlimited number of tracks to find out what that catchy song on the radio-tag.

Once you find the track you can jump directly to the Zune Marketplace to hear of 30 seconds of the song and buy or listen to the whole track, you've found a Zune Pass.

2. IHeartRadio
Streaming internet radio American style, with 750 stations across America, organized by the city or genre, plus some celebrity channels. Your texts for the playback of the track and a link to it on the market to buy, or you can sign up for a free account to build your own stations – although as Slacker (which streams only-Internet genre stations) you need to have a u.s. zip code to log on (Beverly Hills, anyone?).

3. Foursquare
Another well designed and comprehensive Windows phone 7 version of a well-known app. after the check-ins, mayorships, friends, tips you have left, badges you've earned and locations you have saved for a visit to his; but they are tucked under your profile, who for some reason is buried in the extensive menu, so you might miss.

You don't have Flash for Windows Phone 7 yet, but the official Acrobat app allows you to open PDF files from webpages and email attachments (and that you have stored on the phone). you can pinch to zoom in and out and swipe to move from page to page (but you cannot search a file).

5. Twitter
You are spoilt for choice between the official Twitter client, which has every feature you can think of (although you can see only lists you created), and Seesmic, which has a similar full set of features (including lists you follow). Twitter has predictive text, so it wins for now.
Twitter

6. eBay
The eBay customer looks simple but it is packed with features. setting a price range for a search, browse by category, objects or bid directly from the phone (including making a best offer), then pay with PayPal.You can see what you're watching, buying and selling-the only thing you can't get an item for sale.

by shyboyfriend I would of preferred to purchase this via in app. Now I have two icons that take up space, which space is important to me because I do not want to jailbreak my phone. Perhaps you can make this second one a seasons special edition, with integration of in app purchases made available with holidays like Christmas, Valentines, etc. Other than that, I love the game and gave it four stars instead of five because this could of been a special in app purchase. by Josue Morales It's really awesome! Just like the Original Angry Birds! I recommend it! 9/10 by Anxiety iXi Nearly identical to the original(so you may question the $99c tag), but that game alone had way more than $1 worth of content, so I'm ok paying for this one. 5 stars if they support it like the original

HTC Knight surfaces for Sprint with Android and sliding hinge of some sort?

new cell phone technology - HTC Knight What do we know about the photo here? Not much more than meets the eye--this alleged new cell phone technology from HTC, the HTC Knight for Sprint and navigates using the Android  touchscreen keyboard. We get a bit more detail from the source of the image, which gave XDA-developers an XML file that users do not call "slide screen in/out" during activation. That certainly suggests that this is a slider, but not necessarily a physical QWERTY keyboard look--after all, a very similar-looking HTC device recently appeared sports a slide-out speaker bar.

The 3D mobile phone lands in India for $97, no glasses required

New cell phone technology - the 3D mobile phone

It's not every day that you come across a autostereoscopic 3D mobile phone launch, let alone for less than $ 100 (RS. 4,299) .... But that's exactly what the Spice mobile company just announced in India. The M-67 3D phone features a 2.36-inch 240 x 320 pixel display with special 3D shortcut key to let users switch between 2D and 3D display modes for the user interface, graphics, and video. This dual-SIM phone is unfortunately only equipped with a 2D camera, not one of these 3D jobbies that are cooked up by Sharp. We recommend that at this price it is not going to be the viewing experience that the Nintendo 3DS gives, but it's certainly a harbinger of things to come.

This is more of an interactive story than you are playing a game. emily, a geeky girl with a crush on her best friend/enemy of friend, johnny-soon to. The primary objective of this game is to johnny to fall in love with you instead of him to get back with lucy (the best friend/enemy). The game is divided into short scenes where you must choose from a list of things to say, and depending on your choices will make further progress in the game, but say the wrong thing and all you have to do is once again the scene to see if you can better, in fact all you?ll have to do is say something else. To follow the story through its conclusion and arrive at either end of the game. The only problem with this is that there is only one mini game to play between the story, which is pretty meaningless if it doesn't aid in the story in any way, it would have been better if more mini-games. Also once you've completed, you unlock part of a picture that in extras, complete the game three times to unlock the image completely. I found that the graphics very cartoony, bright and colorful and the sound effects and music are also pretty good quality. Generally speaking, I think this is a good game, but once you've played it a few times it gets pretty boring.

Touch Screen Games - High Noon Reloaded (Apple)

The iPhone and iPad are still the benchmark for touch screen games, here is the latest rendition of the High Noon game for the Apple platform...

Your phone is your weapon if you duel with people online worldwide among the most sought-after outlaw on the planet!Win duels and collecting reward money for customizing your character. If you build your reputation, the bounty on your head competition from all over the world!

High Noon is a multi player game and requires at least a GPRS network connection, 3 g or better recommended.

Features
Real-time multiplayer duels realistic "your-phone-is-your-gun" holstering, signs, aim, shoot and reloading actionsStealing your opponents (if you are not caught!)4 gun types: revolver, shotgun, rifle and scoped rifleSpecial equipment: dynamite, lassos, silver bullets, voodoo dolls ... wooden teeth and more! Western wear: Rookie, gambler or disgruntled civil war soldier-you can make your character from head to toe!Indian trading post items that you an edge over the competition give
Touch Screen Games - High Noon Reloaded

Here is the review, this game is not only your skills, but also your willingness to win money.

The items that will help you with your shooting for examples include higher health points (HP), "pesky bullets" for more damage, faster walking speed, better guns and more.

Touch Screen Games - High Noon Reloaded

This game, you play with the closest competitors using the "WildCat Challenge", making it more balance in your items & gun with your enemy Challenger.

You can not play this game on a moving vehicle or when you run as the accelerometer has so much affect will not be able to have a fast & accurate shot.

Touch Screen Games - High Noon Reloaded

The social networking aspect of this game & the real-time multi-player interaction (or 1 on 1 shooting from) is breathtaking & unique for me is that this application creates a new standard for these free apps available in the app store in iTunes.

The developer has different "ad hoc events" these few weeks like Halloween costume contest, special revolver challenges and many more which is unheard of in other games on the iPhone, if you're game that giving such events have seen please let me know.

This game has a problem with unfair game play between gamers equipped with items that can only be purchased with "Wampum" and those without, is my suggestion to both free players can get up wampum faster per level with incremental levels.(for example, level 1 to level 2 get 2 wampum, level 12 level 13 13 wampum).

In this way the total of 30 levels you equal number of wampum required to buy all the all shops get but only takes a period of time longer as compared to those who purchased with real money.
That means that all the store items that uses wampum to buy all add up to a number equal to 30 levels of wampum (1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5. + 30)

That gives users the incentive to keep playing & not giving up on the game prematurely.

I wish the developer can consider game center or other social network to save their account progress & buying items so they can continue where they left off when they put their game to migrate to another iPhone.

Overall, this game is addictive and I liked it a lot!

We got a good look at Samsung Android-based Galaxy Player 50 on IFA last month, but people looking for even more can now get a pretty thorough overview of the main unit courtesy of a new Samsung ad that runs from a full two minutes and 40 seconds. What is more, Samsung Hub reports that at least one retailer in France has the device, which is in fact a Samsung phone without the phone. That means that you get Android 2. 1, a decent 3. 2-inch screen, a 2-megapixel camera, built-in WiFi and GPS, 8 or 16 GB of storage and a microSD card slot for expansion. Head on past the break for the video, and search for the phone to officially hit other retailers in Europe later this month (still no word on a release here, unfortunately).

-Nick Siaflas 3/10

So far. ..Really good. do you have a tutorial for playing a game going. It is the best though.
Graphics are good. the gameplay is good. 3 types of court. Exhibition and career modes.
I'm on the easy level and the ai opponant killed me. excellent telephone tennis game.
-Mark Ostrow 9/10

This game has excellent graphics, but is disappointed with bad playability. I found it hard to get rid of the ball When the opponent the ball over the net, it is difficult to move to the right, so you do not reach the ball in the time before the double bounces which is very frustrating.

Brilliant. Freeroam great, car theft, robbery, hijacking, killing all brilliant sprees.
-Anonymous Review 10/10

Great game, of course, it is not anything like the xbox 360 and ps3 version of the game, graphics is similar to gta 1 if anyone remembers it.
I'd say the gameplay is pretty decent considering the small screen. If you want or missions are up to you to do, it gives you the roam free.
Overall, I would say I caught a great game and only for 5 you really can't go wrong.
All in all I would this game 8/10.
-Adam London 8/10

Saints row 2 is a great game, the graphics are good and the storyline is good but its a bit short.

I have played on a bold 9700. It supports the full fat resolution and also the touchpad controls (I prefer the digit keys for controls as they feel more accurate and all you need is on the left and right anyway since you can set to auto-fire).

The game itself is a beautiful view on an old classic and familar to those who have played the similar DS or psp versions of this remake.

Minimalist but stylish graphics and new extra weapons make this game really stand out, so if you're worried that it is not for you, oldschool, these new additions make the game feels fresh.

What is also nice is the learning curve and the challenging difficulty, you will not blast through this in one shot, but you also don't need to give too early, it is nicely balanced.

It automatically saves your game so you don't have to start all over, but you will save only at the beginning of a new wave of what you mean to beat a wave first before you can save. That is also good, otherwise the game would be too easy.

This is among the best mobile phone games I've ever played and even kept me from playing on my 360 and wii lol, two thumbs up!
-Marc Seelos 10/10

Good, simple yet addictive gameplay. ideal for mobile phone, with basic controls. The game tests your thumbs, if can get difficult. It's basically the space invaders but with a few changes, such as power-ups if you shoot down UFOs and the space invaders layed several beginning positions on the screen, and different colored aliens with different speeds and capacities. good game. Sound unfortunately disappointing, like more satisfying sound effects for the shooting, explosions and aliens. The sound effects on this game are worse than on the original space invaders. So game a few points as a result of bad audio loses, but despite this, the game is a good one to have on mobile. and definitely worth a purchase if you shoot-em-ups.
-Richard Cuthbertson 8/10

If you're in the old-school gaming than this for you, and if you havent played a lot of old games then give this a go COS its fast and challenging its way better than the original space invaders, but where the oldschool.
-George Loizou 10/10

The gameplay is nice and addictive, the graphics are gorgeous. However, there is one thing that I didn't like: the sounds. only once in a while you hear some music/sound, but I really miss a sound at the touch of a brick. This spoils the experience quite a bit for me.
All in all a fun game, but only a rating of 7 because of poor sounds.
-Mischa Rut ring 7/10

Highly addictive game that I don't think you can get bored with. even if you buy a new game, you will always come back to play this.
-Lee Raymond 8/10

Great game many levels, but the further you get, the longer it takes to load the game-can wait until 5 mins!

Customer reviews
I played the previous need for speed pro street mobile and thought it was pretty good. So naturally, I decided to try undercover. I managed to download the game in my Nokia 5800, that an oblong hd landscape screen.
Images:
Strangely enough, the nokia 5800 version 2d visuals rather than 3d. The visuals are nice, but not great. Perhaps because of the large nokia 5800-screen, the cars look quite small and lacks details. Backgrounds are beautifully drawn, but the buildings occupied by flashes are boring, repetitive.I seen much better graphics and details in other racing games like aspalt 4 3d.

Gameplay:
This game is not difficult to play using the Nokia 5800 touchscreen display. You send by pressing left and right icons located on the two bottom of the screen to be printed above the left button is brake, and above the right button is drift. is your nitro boost in the lower middle of the screen. frankly, I'd rather button instead, touchscreens but the 5800 is not exactly built for gaming. Another thing to note is that difting in this game is quite a chore. When you click the button drift during the negotiation of a curve, a small bar in the middle of the screen. What you need to do is to the balance of the cursor in the bar by pressing the left or right. You'll be driving if you do it correctly but you are on the bar so much focus will send you a obstacle infront and crash in not notice. I can easily winning a race without all afloat. This makes driving completely annoying and unnecessary.

Conclusion:
Undercover is decent at best and gameplay lacks fun and is overly repetitive.

-Ivan Chan 6/10

Hello, I buy the game with a great expectation, and I say that the game the fulfilled. The graphics are good, the speed of cars is fast, sound is realistic, levels are interesting and big cars. I adore this game. thank you for selling.

-Andrea Barquero Fern ndez 10/10

The game is good with differant types of contests, good cars and easy to play. A thing that would be better is if the game was able to be played in landscape, also it would be cool if was available for motion control.

Apple patents anti-sexting application for the mobile phone

Apple has an anti-sexting application for mobile phones, patented for these parents concerned about the texts that their children get (and in some cases).
The u.s. patent and Trademark Office approved the following Apple patent this month, originally posted back in 2008, allowing users to send or receive the "offensive" SMS on their mobile.

Communication control
The application is mentioned in the patent a "text-based communication control for personal communication device."

The patent describes that there are currently, "no way to monitor and control text communication is to let user need. For example, users such as children can send or receive messages (intentionally or not) with by objectionable language."

Apple's patent continues: "in an embodiment, the management application includes a parental. assesses The parental control application whether or not the communication approved on the basis of text contains, for example, objective ratings criteria or age of a user or grade level, and, if not-authorized, prevents such text is included in the communication of the text-based.

"If the control unauthorized contains text, the configuration of the application can warn the user, the administrator or other designated persons of the presence of such text. The configuration of the application require that the user be replaced the unauthorized or can automatically remove the text or the whole communication '.

Lesson to take from this? Look from children, your mother will soon know when you send naughty texts (so you'd better think of some smart words to use in place of the Naughty ones!).

Hands on: Samsung Omnia 7 review

Samsung's take on Windows phone 7 was always going to be tech-heavy and that proved the case.
With a 4-inch Super amoled screen and a cool industrial design, the Samsung Omnia 7 a slightly different take the LG and HTC crowd.
It's not the big gone on the camera side of things like the HTC Mozart, packaging only a 5MP camera with what looks like a pretty small sensor.

But it is that screen that really things pop on this phone makes-it's almost like the feeling you get when you first create a Blu-ray on a good HD telly, everything looks really more that reality itself.
Yes, we have seen the same things at the Samsung Galaxy S, but for some reason that the angular design of Windows phone 7 really brings out the deep contrast and vibrant colors more than on the Android version.

The Samsung Omnia 7 is actually very similar in layout to the Galaxy just beyond its power/lock key is on the right side of the phone, where it is easy to reach without shaking the phone around in your hand too much.
The especially-looking camera is in the same place, although with the Omnia 7 the plastic back has been replaced by a Wave-like metallic option that we really like.

The Windows Phone 7 range has a real premium placed on the high end feeling of the appliances and the Samsung Omnia is one of the best examples of this in our opinion.
The front keys are the most impressive-there is an iPhone-like head home key, which is circular and concave, and the two touch-sensitive buttons surrounding it are very responsive.

If the Windows Phone 7 experience is designed to be virtually identical on most handsets, we have done a thorough hands on review of the separately so you can see how the Samsung Omnia 7 's new fancy interface works:
Samsung has put out some other functionality on the Omnia 7 too-although it's not the most profound there.

For example, the daily briefing gives you access to basic information such as weather and news, useful and easy to look at when you're on the go.
Much, much more use the photo sharing application, making it easy to upload photos to a variety of sources.

There is support for Facebook, Flickr, Friendster-even MySpace is on there, and nobody uses it anymore, unless they are in some kind of backwards time loop, love N-Dubz or really into vampires.

We do not get the chance to test this functionality, but we assume that you will have to come from the camera application for uploading the photos, as the camera mode locked down by Microsoft seems.

The Samsung Omnia 7 is a thin, angular device with a breathtaking display and a true high-end feel to it; we think it could be duking it out with the HTC HD 7 if the headline-grabbing Windows phone 7 handset.
